The vegetation is so lush...

For those of you familiar with the movie "Pure luck" recall the scene where Martin Short and Danny Glover are flying in the little airplane. Martin gets stung by a bee, to which he is allegic, and his face swells up to four times the normal size. He has no clue what is happening and makes the comment to Danny that the vegetation is so lush from their viewpoint. Well, if Annie had better communication skillls she would have said the same thing last night. We were at a friend's house hanging out last night and after about 2 hours of being there I notice that Annie has snot all over her face and her eyes are almost sealed shut. She is also rubbing her eyes like a mad woman. (Now I must mention that she wasn't experiencing these symptoms for 2 hours and I was completely oblivious. It took that long for her body to form a reaction). It was concluded that she was allegric to the dog. How are you to know that these things will occur? I had no idea, but this was the first time she has had extended contact with a dog. A bath and some Benedryl seemed to help last night, but she woke up this morning looking a bit Chinese. Oh the adventures that you get to go on when you have a toddler.
*my cord to connect my camera to the computer is in Utah, so I will have to post pictures later unless I get computer savvy before then.

What a crock!

We went to the Treehouse museum and there were lots of fun things to do and see. One of the things that the girls enjoyed the most was the tea party. It was just like the tea party in Alice and Wonderland. There were fancy cups and good things to eat. This is all pretend of course because one of the big goals of the Treehouse is for kids to use their imaginations. Now, for those of you who are familiar with miss Annie, you know what a snacker she is. Well, she was not amused with the idea of pretend cookies, cupcakes, and brownies. In fact she got quite upset and tried to put everything in her mouth at least once. It was hard not to laugh, but she was persistant and managed to contaminate all of the treats for the tea party.

Lagoon

Brian's family had a reunion at Lagoon. I have somewhat fond memories of Lagoon because it was my first place of employment. I worked the games and let me tell you that was the longest summer of my life. It was quickly discovered that my girls were not capable of riding together. We put them on the first kiddie ride and before the attendant had arrived to check that their seat belt was secure they were both in tears because they were beating the crap out of each other. I told Brian that we should just walk away and pretend they weren't related to us. Well, the ride attendant starting scanning the crowd for the parents of these two deranged kids, so we had no choice, but to step up and claim them. We learned our lesson. They rode separately for the rest of the time and had a good time.

Happy Birthday Annie!!

Annie turned 2 years old on Saturday and we had a little Birthday Breakfast party. She is an Elmo fan, so that was the theme of the party. We had a pinata and the little kids were a little concerned that they were whacking the crap out of Elmo, but all worries fell to the wayside once the candy hit the ground. She had Elmo cupcakes and received tons of fun new things. It was a great day. We are so glad that Annie is a part of our lives!

Much to my dismay

Leah got a gift card to Toys R Us for her birthday, so yesterday we went to spend her money. We wondered around the store and she tried out lots of things. Her and Annie had a great time on the electric mobility cars, but they were a little out of our $25.00 price range. Then she spots what she wants and runs over to grab it off the shelf. Pom poms that light up! Has she learned nothing from me? No offense to all those cheerleaders out there, but I was hoping I could postpone the "rah rah" intrigue for a few more years. I guess I was wrong.

Ready for boating

When we left Las Vegas on Tuesday the temperature gauge in my van read 100 degrees. A lovely day for us desert rats. Well, the weather in northern Utah was a different story. Yesterday the high was 61 degrees! Obviously they didn't get the memo that it is summer and things need to warm up. Regardless of the temperature, Annie was ready for some fun in the sun. In fact, we had a hard time getting her to take her life jacket off. At least there won't be a fight when she needs to where it for real.

Entering the blogging world

o.k. I am going to follow the other sheep and plunge myself off the cliff. Here goes nothing.
