Surprise!

I must start out by saying that I have some pretty fabulous friends. Yesterday I was planning on going to lunch with a couple of friends, Mical and Melissa. They wanted to take me out before this baby comes. I was excited to get together with them. Well, lunch ended up being a surprise baby shower at Mical's house. I was supposed to meet at Mical's house at 12:30. I got there rang the bell and she answered the door. As I walked up the stairs, a group of my friends jumped out and yelled "Surprise!" I was so shocked I almost peed my pants. I had no clue that this was even in the cards. Apparantly Mical and Melissa have been planning this for weeks. Brian was invovled to get a list of girls in my current ward to invite and he diligently extracted from me some things that we needed for this new baby. I got a bunch of diapers (thank you, thank you, thank you), some clothes, blankies, and other necessaties for a newborn. We played a fun game, ate lunch, and just visited. It was a great time. I knew that I had wonderful friends, but they really pulled out all the stops for this one. I was beginning to dread the fact that I can no longer jump in the car and go, but will require the constant companionship of a 17 pound diaper bag. However, after yesterday, I feel that at least I have some essential items to toss in the bag.

Scheduled

It is official. Baby number 3 is scheduled to arrive on Monday, October 13th at approximately 7:30 am. It still just seems so unnatural for me to know this information on Saturday, September 12th approximately 9:45 am. I have not come to terms with the fact that this is how it is going to be. It didn't help that I was not consulted as to when this baby would arrive. I was just given the information and told when to show up. I know that for some this kind of planning gives comfort and reassurance. I, however am just disturbed by the the whole process. For now, I am just hoping that my water will break on Sunday, October 12th at approximately 7:00 pm.

Preschool

Today was Leah's first day of preschool. She was supposed to start last week, but we were in Utah for my dad's funeral, so today was the big day. She's had her outfit picked out for weeks and yesterday we got her a backpack big enough to fit her homework binder. She was super excited to go back to Ms. Heather's. I'm glad that she enjoys school. Hopefully her attitude won't change as she gets older.

The Binkie Fairy

Well, the time has come for Annie to bid farewell to her beloved binkie. For a long time she did really well and only used it for sleeping. However, as of late she has been asking for it more and more. seeing as how she is getting older, her usage should have been decreasing, but that was not the case, so action had to take place. I talked to her for a couple of days and told her that the binkie fairy was going to come and take her binkies and leave her a present. She was semi-excited at this prospect. Leah on the other hand was thrilled with the idea. Last night was the designated night for the fairy to visit. Annie gathered all her binkies and spent a little time with each one. She tried to hide on, but wasn't successful. When Brian put them in the container to leave out for the fairy, she flung herself into my arms and just sobbed. It was quite sad. She only cried for a few minutes before she finally fell asleep. At 5:45 this morning I hear her laying next to her door saying, "Bink, bink" over and over again. Aargh. Well, she managed to rest a bit more before we got up for the day. Leah showed her what the Binkie fairy had left and she seemed pretty happy with her stash. She is well on her way to kicking her little addiction for good.
